It’s time to meet artist number two who’ll be playing at Headrow this December. You may have heard of her, she’s making a name for herself in the underground LDS scene having played across the city and being a member of the Readymeal Sound collaboration. Please put your hands together for Pixie Cola…
Currently based out of Leeds, we first heard of Pixie Cola through her live performances up at Hyde Park Book Club alongside the likes of Yusuf Yellow and LAIKA. Listening to Pixie, immediately you’ll be captivated by the smoothness of her sound, it’s like caramel for the ears! And still only young, at the beginning of her trajectory, there are certainly big things ahead.
Luckily for us, earlier in the year, Pixie Cola released her debut EP entitled You’re Living In A Pixie World, Vol. 1, and holy heck isn’t that right. Throughout the track listing we sway between jazz, soul, R&B and sometimes even flavours of bedroom pop, with a real range of moods packed in there as well. Whether it’s the delicious danger of ‘Colour Blind’, the empowerment of ‘Temple’ or the vulnerability of ‘Stick With Me’ – we’re all in, full immersed in Pixie world.

There’s something about the EP which is inherently accessible. Perhaps it’s the stripped back production, or the honesty in the lyricism, but the affect is undeniable. In total, all 4 tracks amount to just under 14 minutes, it goes by in the flash of an eye. It’s the perfect daydream, a moment in the sun, a brief reflection, or soothing soundtrack to nip to the corner shop to buy a pint of milk. No matter where or how you find yourself listening, Pixie Cola is guaranteed to provide a sigh of relief.
And what sounds better for a wintry December afternoon!! So grab your tickets now, it’s gonna be a vibe.
Take a listen for yourself:
